Dubai Creek Harbour Case Study

Geobit Group provided a full-scope concrete repair and waterproofing package for the Dubai Creek Harbour waterfront development. The project scope covered structural rehabilitation of marine-exposed concrete elements, application of anti-carbonation protective coatings, and below-grade flexible cementitious membrane waterproofing for podium and basement levels.

Crystalline waterproofing coatings were applied to concrete retaining walls and water-retaining structures to block capillary moisture migration, while polymer-modified repair mortars reinstated damaged concrete profiles to original design cross-sections.

Technical Specifications & Execution

Waterfront Exposure & Concrete Degradation

Structural concrete elements adjacent to the Creek waterway are subjected to tidal moisture cycles, airborne chloride deposition, and UV-accelerated carbonation. These combined mechanisms drive reinforcement corrosion, surface delamination, and loss of structural cross-section in exposed marine-zone elements.

Repair, Coating & Membrane Systems

Corroded reinforcement was exposed, cleaned, and treated with protective primer. Concrete profiles were restored using BETOFLEX® Concrete Repair Mortar. Anti-carbonation elastomeric coatings were then applied to all exposed surfaces, while below-grade walls received a two-component BETOFLEX® Flexible Cementitious Membrane for long-term moisture barrier performance.

Testing & Quality Protocols

Pull-off adhesion tests exceeded 1.5 MPa on all repaired zones. Coating dry film thickness was verified via non-destructive gauging at multiple grid points per panel. Below-grade membrane applications passed 72-hour flood tests before protective screed placement.
