Aljada by Arada Case Study
Geobit Group supplied BETOFLEX® sub-structure waterproofing materials for Aljada, Sharjah's largest mixed-use master-planned community by Arada. The scope encompassed multi-layer torch-applied bitumen membrane systems, bituminous protection boards, and mastic sealant treatment for basement raft foundations, retaining walls, and podium slabs across residential towers, retail zones, and community infrastructure.

Technical Specifications & Execution
High Water Table & Aggressive Soil Conditions
Aljada's basement structures extend up to 3 levels below grade in Sharjah, where the water table is seasonally high and groundwater contains elevated sulfate and chloride concentrations. The sub-structure demanded a robust, multi-layer waterproofing envelope capable of resisting sustained hydrostatic pressure and chemical attack on the concrete matrix.
Dual-Layer Bitumen Membrane & Mechanical Protection
Raft slabs and retaining walls were primed with BETOFLEX® Bitumen Primer and waterproofed using a base layer of BETOFLEX® SBS Membrane (high elongation, low-temperature flexibility) plus a cap sheet of BETOFLEX® APP Membrane (high-temperature stability). All construction and expansion joints received BETOFLEX® Mastic Sealant. The completed membrane assembly was shielded by BETOFLEX® Protection Board prior to backfill operations.
Inspection & Testing Protocol
Each waterproofed section was subjected to 72-hour flood testing before protection board installation. Lap seam integrity was verified by torching inspection and peel-back tests. Adhesion pull-off tests on the membrane-to-substrate bond were conducted per ASTM D4541 to verify minimum 1.5 N/mm² adhesion strength across all treated surfaces.
