Joint Sealing Under Lateral Hydrostatic Pressure
Riyadh Metro's underground stations contain massive concrete segments that experience continuous settlement and lateral soil pressure. Sealing the joints against potential chemical and groundwater ingress while accommodating multi-directional movement was a critical requirement.
Heavy-Duty Polysulfide & High-Build Polyurethane Systems
All segment joints were prepared and sealed with BETOFLEX® Polysulfide-G, a heavy-duty, chemically resistant pourable/gun-grade expansion joint sealant that maintains flexibility under continuous water immersion. The external concrete surfaces were coated with BETOFLEX® LiquidPU-2K, forming a robust chemical-resistant and moisture-impermeable barrier.
Quality Assurance & Execution
The integrated joint sealant and liquid membrane package provided complete water-tightness across miles of underground structures. Inspections confirm zero joint failure even under high dynamic vibrational loads from daily metro operations.
