Abu Dhabi Airport Expansion Case Study
Geobit Group successfully delivered a state-of-the-art BETOFLEX® material solution for the Abu Dhabi Airport Expansion project. Working closely with engineering consultants and main contractors, our specialized waterproofing systems were applied to guarantee absolute moisture resistance, chemical durability, and long-term structural integrity under demanding local conditions.

Technical Specifications & Execution
Extreme Thermal Movement & Complex Roof Design
The terminal's massive concrete roof slab features complex geometries and extensive expansion joints designed to accommodate high thermal expansion/contraction cycles (temperatures ranging from 10°C to 50°C daily). Regular waterproofing sheets would shear or tear under such movement.
Elastomeric Liquid Membranes & Polyurethane Sealants
Geobit implemented a seamless liquid-applied waterproofing solution. The concrete roof slab was primed and coated with BETOFLEX® RoofShield elastomeric polyurethane membrane, which cures to form a seamless, flexible water barrier. This was top-coated with solar-reflective, UV-stable BETOFLEX® UV Shield to reduce roof surface temperature. Large movement joints were sealed using high-performance BETOFLEX® PU Sealant-25 backed by closed-cell polyethylene rods.
Quality Assurance & Execution
The seamless liquid membrane conformed perfectly to complex expansion joint borders and penetrations. Thermal imaging confirmed a surface temperature reduction of 15°C, improving structural longevity and terminal energy efficiency.
